GLS (Guitar Lessons Seattle) With a Pro!

Hi, I'm Steve Delgado, professional guitarist. Welcome to my Seattle Guitar Lessons site!  I attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachussetts from 1974 to 1977 and I've been playing guitar longer than I care to mention (OK, 40 years!). I've got my favorite styles (rock, jazzy rock, blues, and funk) and I'll help you with whatever your own style happens to be.  I give lessons at all levels, concentrating on guitar technique as well as theory and notation should you want to learn them. However, it's not really necessary to learn that stuff to learn how to play. If you just want to learn to strum songs or play licks, I can have you rockin' in no time. Many rock and pop songs are a lot easier to play than you might think. The main thing is, it has to be FUN, because that's what playing guitar is all about! I'm no snob; I love to teach beginners and intermediate level players. Of course, advanced players are welcome, as well.

I'm playing all the guitar (of course!), guitar synth on one tune, and occasional bass guitar and keyboard bass. Eveything else is ACID loops.

Teaching Approach

Getting back to lessons, a lot of how they'd be structured is up to you: If you want to learn to read music, we can go that route; on the other hand, if you just want to learn hot licks, scales, chords, theory, etc., that's fine too.  One approach that works for a lot of students is to bring a CD of a tune or lick(s) that you want to learn.  I have excellent ears and can pick up what you want to learn (usually!) and teach it to you during the lesson.

What's the Bottom Line?

The lessons are at my place in the Seattle suburb of Renton, $40 an hour.  The first lesson requires no commitment.  If you choose to continue, payment is monthly and in advance.

Given that lessons are weekly (same day same time each week) there are usually four per month. But some months will have five lesson-days, and in that case the fifth lesson is free (or alternatively, it would be used as a make-up lesson if you'd missed one during that month).
